    Osteopathy

Note: The osteopathic techniques practiced by some of our therapists are those taught in the British schools of osteopathic medicine. We make this distinction because of the split in the osteopathic profession in the 1950’s. In the US, osteopaths have moved away from the holistic approach, and do surgery and prescribe medication. While in Europe and Canada, the osteopaths practice the true art of manual medicine.

Osteopathic manual medicine differs greatly from all allopathic treatments and most alternative treatments because of its true holistic approach. Massage Therapy, Chiropractic and Physiotherapy emerged from osteopathy.

The osteopathic practitioner assesses and treats from the perspective of the whole body and seeks to restore the proper mobility of its component parts. Attaining harmonious balance among the body’s systems (musculoskeletal, circulatory, digestive, pulmonary, neural etc.) is the ultimate goal of an osteopathic treatment.

Myofascial release, Craniosacral, Strain Counter Strain and GOT are just some of the techniques used by the osteopathic practitioner. If you are looking for something that addresses your entire body while also impacting that troubling area, osteopathy is a treatment you should try.

Bart Prinsen BSc. RMT is in his 3rd year of his 5 year osteopathic training.
Mark Bentz RMT also studied 1 year at the Canadian College of Osteopathic Medicine.
