| Craniosacral Therapy in Vancouver |
|
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by the famed Osteopathic physician Dr. W.G.Sutherland. This progressive technique has continued to be modernized by leading osteopaths, medical doctors, registered massage therapists and various practitioners from around the world. Craniosacral Therapy is a light hands-on approach of evaluating and improving the functioning of an important physiological system of the body that has ultimate influence over the function of the body. Its system is comprised of the thick fascial membrane (Dura) that surrounds and separates the structures of the brain as well as penetrating into the spinal column to cover and protect the spinal cord. The membrane attaches itself to the inside of the various skull bones along with two vertebrae at the top of the neck and one vertebrae at the base of the spine, essentially suspending the brain and spinal cord in a container of cerebrospinal fluid. Fascial restrictions within the craniosacral system will create imbalances through the 22 bones of the face and skull ultimately compromising the central nervous system and affecting the proper balances of the body. Interrupting the flow of the craniosacral fluid can lead to and augment conditions such as:
Migraine headaches
Chronic neck and back pain
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Orthopaedic problems
Stress and tension-related problems
Motor-Coordination impairments
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Neurovascular or immune disorders
Learning disabilities
Fibromyalgia and other connective-tissue disorders
Using a soft, light touch, therapists are able to assess and treat the dysfunctions and strain patterns. Our registered massage therapists can release these restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system which directly influences the rest of the body. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, craniosacral therapy is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to enhance resistance to disease. A Craniaosacral Massage is available in downtown Vancouver at Everest Therapeutics. Click Craniosacral Massage to go to our online calendar. |
