Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage - MLD

Manual Lymph DrainageManual lymphatic drainage massage is also known by the acronym M-L-D. It is a highly specialized treatment used to stimulate the flow of lymph from the affected area. This increases lymphatic drainage and subsequently decreases symptoms.

When receiving MLD It is important to use a Dr. Vodder licensed RMT. This is because they have the necessary post graduate training to achieve the exacting results necessary when treating complex conditions. Each Dr. Vodder licensed RMT has to be recertified every two years. This is because these techniques need to be done with pin point accuracy.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage can be used in many circumstances; on a healthy individual it can be used to improve immunity, relieve the pain and swelling of an injury, reduce stress by calming the nervous system and effectively aids skin healing due to the slow gentle stretching action of MLD.

MLD is used to treat:
•    Venous Oedema and leg ulcers
•    burns or post surgical scars
•    Pre and post cosmetic surgery
•    Primary and secondary lymph oedema
•    Facial paralysis
•    Chronic headaches
•    Neuralgia
•    Tinnitus, Sinusitis, Rhinitis
•    Acne vulgaris Acne rosacea
•    Allergic and chronic eczema
•    Diseases of the digestive tract Constipation, Diverticulosis, Colitis

Manual Lymph DrainageIt is important to note that you can expect an increased need to urinate soon after a treatment and for several hours thereafter. This occurs because the excess fluids that were moved from the tissues have now been processed by the kidneys and are ready to be excreted as urine.

Drinking plenty of water after a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage session is necessary to replenish the fluids that were mobilized by the treatment.
