Osteopathic Techniques – Downtown Vancouver

Pracitioner performing osteopathic massage on a patient

The osteopathic techniques practiced by some of our therapists are those taught in the British schools of osteopathic medicine. We make this distinction because of the split that occurred in the osteopathic profession in the 1950’s.

In the US, osteopaths moved away from the holistic approach. They conduct surgery and prescribe medication. However, in Europe and Canada, osteopaths practice the true art of manual medicine.

For Osteopathic Massage, We Recommend:

Myofascial release, Craniosacral, Strain Counter Strain and GOT are just some of the techniques used by the osteopathic practitioner. If you are looking for something that addresses your entire body while also impacting the troubling area, osteopathy is a treatment you should try.

What is Osteopathic Massage?

Osteopathic manual medicine differs greatly from all allopathic treatments and most alternative treatments because of its true holistic approach. Massage Therapy, Chiropractic, and Physiotherapy emerged from osteopathy.

The osteopathic practitioner assesses and treats from the perspective of the whole body and seeks to restore the proper mobility of its component parts. Attaining harmonious balance among the body’s systems: musculoskeletal, circulatory, digestive, pulmonary, neural etc., is the ultimate goal of an osteopathic treatment.
